Participants should be able to: describe the role of nutrition in management of persons with neurologic disease; counsel patients on the basic parameters of a healthy diet and recommend any evidence-based dietary strategies for a specific neurologic disease as may be available; describe the impact of diet in persons with MS; discuss current "best practice" dietary interventions for prevention of cerebrovascular disease; and discuss the role of diet in prevention and treatment in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
