Participants should be able to demonstrate a greater understanding of ethical issues relating to patient safety and strategies to address these issues; understand the definitions of abuse and violence, the affects of abuse and violence on neurological conditions, and how neurological conditions can generate abuse and violence with caregivers; learn to screen for abuse and violence and how to make referrals for safety and care; beware of the 鈥渢each-back technique鈥 and why teach-back has been cited as one of the 11 top patient safety strategies; understand patient safety issues confronting neurologists as they consult in the emergency department and how to minimize adverse events; and how to use the 麻豆传媒映画鈥檚 acclaimed Patient Safety Tips and Tools program to access low-burden patient safety tips, tools, and resources.
