Learning Objectives Upon completion:
Participants should have a greater understanding of the inflammatory nature of atherosclerosis with respect to its role in stroke and heart attacks; have a better understanding of which medications have an effect on this inflammatory process and the direction of novel future therapies targeting specific inflammatory factors; and understand the role of infection and the utility of antibiotic use, as well as the rapidly expanding information regarding genetic susceptibility in atherosclerotic disease.
