Introducing the National Headache Medicine Fellowship Opportunities Website
Headache
P15 - Poster Session 15 (12:00 PM-1:00 PM)
7-009
To build a national Headache Medicine fellowship opportunities website that promotes a unified application timeline and a more transparent application process.
In July 2019, the Consortium of Headache Program Directors unanimously accepted the recommendations of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» (Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³») Fellowship Application Timing Position Statement. To implement the unified application timeline, the American Headache Society (AHS) agreed to host a fellowship opportunities website with information on the application process and resources for each fellowship program.
A main landing page was designed to feature the unified timeline for applications and offers, as well as, to feature a total of 42 headache fellowship programs (identified using the UCNS certification database). Each program is featured as an icon on the main landing page. Users can sort programs by alphabetical order or by geographical region. The icons on the landing page serve as links to each fellowship program’s individual webpage. An email was sent to each fellowship program director asking them to submit program information that would be the content on each fellowship program’s individual webpage. Key contents on each program webpage include image of the program, brief program bio sketch, names of applicants who have filled positions, open positions, program director contact information, and URL of program’s institution website.

The website will be operational in the late fall of 2019. At that point program directors will submit their program information. Applicants will have access to the website in early 2020. Compliance to the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Fellowship Application Timing Position Statement will be ensured by querying the accepted applicants.

The unified timeline for applications and offers can potentially level the playing field for both programs and applicants. The website serves as a central resource for Headache Medicine fellowship applicants and promotes a more fair and transparent application process.
