To provide an easily accessible online educational resource for physician wellness advocates

Physician burnout is a growing problem which is increasingly recognized at local, regional and national levels. There is an overwhelming wealth of information from layperson and institutional sources, including the American Medical Association (AMA), Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» (Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³») and National Academy of Medicine (NAM), on causes and consequences of physician burnout, but little accessible information for individuals on practical steps required to start physician wellness programs at their organizations.

We prepared an online resource for physician wellness advocates, which specifically addressed gaps in knowledge and accessibility identified during discussions with participants and faculty at the 2018 Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum (PALF) and 2019 Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Live Well Lead Well (LWLW) leadership program. Media training and strategic communication strategies from PALF and LWLW were utilized, and  AMA, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» and NAM resources were consolidated in developing this resource. This project was funded by the 2018 PALF Action Plan Grant.

A 10-minute self-directed online presentation clearly summarizing the causes and consequences of physician burnout, practical steps required to establish a local physician wellness program, case studies, and common measures of physician burnout and resilience, was put together for the use of physician wellness advocates.

Strategies and discussions at PALF and LWLW leadership programs were used to develop an online educational resource for physician wellness advocates. A simple survey will be used to measure the effectiveness of the resource in educating physician wellness advocates and promoting the uptake of advocacy projects.
